Concrete or clay tile roof repairs

Damaged or Cracked Tiles

Tiles can often be damaged due to storms, high winds, when someone accesses the roof or if objects have been thrown onto the roof such as a cricket ball or football. Cracked tiles should be replaced immediately and Roofing Works (2010) Ltd can assist with replacement tiles ensuring we get a profile and colour match. Tiles can be moved around to ensure the replacement tile can be located somewhere less obvious on the roof if it is an issue.

Lead Flashings

Faulty or absent flashings will cause leaks in the roof, as there will be gaps for the water to leak through, Roofing Works (2010) Ltd can assist you in checking and rectifying any flashing repairs or installation that is required.

Got a leak?

Leaks are often confined to small area's and usually appear as dampness or mould on the ceilings or walls of your home.
It can often be difficult to trace the source of a leak and indeed can be the result of damage done to a roof several years prior to the leak actually appearing.

Below are some of the problems that can cause a leak:

  • Flashing blocked, damaged or displaced.
  • Cracked or broken cement mortar bedding to the ridge or hip capping
  • Cracked or broken roof tiles
  • Roof tiles displaced
  • Blocked drainage channels under the 'sidelaps' of individual tile

Concrete and clay tile roofs have ridge capping to keep your roof watertight. The ridge-cap's run along each ridge of your roof line and are held in place with mortar known as bedding which support's the ridge capping.

The bedding can crack over time as the bedding shrink's and the ridge's may move and even crack leaving your roof exposed to deterioration and the weather. Pointing can be done to repair this damage by binding the bedding with a thin mix of coloured sand and cement.
